While many of our competitors are fully dependent on off-the-shelf components, IDCs can take solutions to the circuit board level. With in-house expertise, we are able to make custom solutions saving space and cost. During COVID, when supply chains were horribly shaken and delayed, IDC was able to maintain our timelines by substituting specific chip-level components. We didn’t have to wait for a component to be back on the shelf like our competitors did. We were able to revise our circuit boards and produce our same AGVs, without substantial delays.

This also carries in our ability to make our own sensors. We can remain very cost competitive by providing our own sensors. For instance, a long-time sensor supplier had an RFID reader that we had purchased for years. Unfortunately, they stopped making it. Instead of being forced to change communication protocols, we were able to design our own RFID reader that could accept the same commands as theirs and be a retrofit solution.
